The Carolina Mills, located in the village of Carolina in southern Rhode Island, operated from the early 1840s to the mid-1930s as an active woolen manufacturing complex. Rowland Gibson Hazard of Peace Dale, Rhode Island, a key figure in the state's textile manufacturing industry, began development of both the mill and the village in 1842.
